Marano Ticino, Piedmont

Reference: RLHP-T3490. On a panoramic hill overlooking the Ticino Valley, this 1260 castle is an exceptional example of fortified architecture, restored with great care for contemporary luxury living. The main residence extends to 1620 sqm over three levels and offers ten generous bedrooms and five bathrooms. An independent guest annex and a historic hamlet arranged around a private courtyard, with five further customisable residential units, complete an estate designed for distinguished private living or an exclusive hospitality project. Built for the region's leading nobility, the castle was owned by the Barbavara family until the second half of the 17th century, before passing to the Castiglioni. Its stone and brick façades, historic courtyard and imposing entrance portal face an 18th-century villa recognised as cultural heritage. An 19th-century panoramic tower, added by the Carena branch of the Castiglioni family, is reached by an elegant wrought-iron staircase and opens onto far-reaching countryside views. Reception rooms with grand stone fireplaces, coffered ceilings, period frescoes, exposed beams, antique terracotta and solid wood floors enhance the interiors. The dining room connects to an equipped kitchen with a wood-fired oven, while the upper floor houses bright principal suites with private sitting rooms and en-suite facilities. Set within 72 hectares of gardens, vineyard, arable land and woodland, the estate offers complete privacy, a sheltered patio, panoramic wisteria-shaded terraces and the potential for stables or a regulation polo field. In the Novara area, it enjoys a strategic north-western Italian setting close to Lake Maggiore, Lake Orta and Milan Malpensa Airport. Rif:16679
